Welcome to linkPittsburgh.com

At linkPittsburgh.com, we strive to provide the most complete list of local web pages that are of interest to the citizens and visitors of Pittsburgh, PA and surrounding communities in Allegheny County.

You can think of our listings as an online phonebook. Simply click on the categories until you find the links you are looking for. Alternatively, you can enter a business name in the search to find their details.

Registered users have the ability to add new links into the system. If your business is not listed and you would like it to be, just register for the site (registration is free!), and then click on the "Add Entry" link to submit your site information. Basic listings are absolutely FREE. You can add premium services, such as multiple categories and logos if you desire, but these are completely optional. We do ask that you provide as many details as possible so that it is easier for customers to find your business.

We now allow for the addition of Facebook pages, Foursquare Venues, Twitter accounts, and other social networking avenues to your linkPittsburgh.com business profile. If you have any questions about what these are or how to use them to gain more followers for your business, please see our Pittsburgh Social Blitz site (Coming Soon!). We are also currently working to provide QR codes for all of the business currently in our directory. QR Codes will allow cell phone users to quickly reach your website using a bar code reader on their smartphones. So as you can see, we are working hard to be sure that your business grows to your full expectation.

What if my company doesn't have a web site? Print E-mail

If your business is not online you have two choices, the first is advertising with a banner that displays your business name address and phone number. This option will not be beneficial in analysis of the number of leads your ad creates, but will help with "word of mouth."

Why advertise online over traditional media? Print E-mail

Online advertising should help complement your current traditional media advertising scheme. However, online advertising has some benefits that some do not inherently recognize. Many people consider online advertising to be on-demand advertising. What is meant by this? Online advertising is considered on-demand because there is an immediate response to the advertisement. The advertisement is displayed, a user clicks on the ad, and the result is a visit to your company webpage which hopefully results in a sale for your business. This transaction is easily recorded and reported in server statistics. This is accomplished on the advertiser's server as well as on the web server used by your company.

Traditionally, print media advertising has mainly been used to promote brand recognition. After all, there really is no way of tracking the success of a print advertising campaign unless the words "mention our ad" or "say you read it here" are used to convey this information. Alternatively, an expensive toll-free phone line could be used to track calls coming from different print media. The same holds true in television advertisement. This can be a very costly method of tracking success.

Brand recognition is the major advantage of traditional advertising. However, it has been shown that online advertising not only is very track able, but it also promotes brand recognition. During a recent study, the Dynamic Logic for the European Interactive Advertising Association analyzed 200 online ad campaigns quantifying the impact of branding. On average online advertising boosts brand awareness (+5.4%), ad recall (+45.3%), message association (+21.6%), brand favorability (+5.6%) and purchase intent (+4.9%). The study shows similar results for both U.S. and European online branding. This shows the major advantage to advertising. Not only can you easily (and inexpensively for that matter) track the success of your online advertising campaign, but online advertising is very successful in increasing brand recognition and awareness. For small to mid-sized businesses, this is a double whammy for their advertising dollar!
